Shape up!
The summer may be over but sunglasses have been a year-long phenomenon for some time. Mark Blankstone of Blankstone Opticians provides some useful shopping tips for those Autumn/Winter shades
So you’ve searched the celeb mags and seen a pair on the stand that you think will suit you but, just because they look good on Victoria and David Beckham, chances are, they may not be right for you.
Back in the land of style, Italians dress from the feet up which is why they are so famed for their shoe design, as well as cars, furniture, in fact, you name it!
But, in the pursuit of the Bella Figuera (beautiful figure), Italians take their sunglasses very seriously and the same can be said of course, increasingly of the Brits.
It makes sense, seeing as, unlike other fashion accessories, your shades will draw immediate attention to your face, so you should select wisely.
In fact, simply choosing the right pair of shades to suit your face shape can transform your whole outfit!
For example, if you have a round-shaped face, look for styles that have double brow bars or frames that are equal to the width of your face.
If yours is heart-shaped and you have high cheekbones – light coloured or rimless frames will look great.
And remember, aviators or angular shapes like these will balance out a smaller chin.
But, if you have a square face – stay away from square frames and reduce those hard angles by choosing soft gently curved oval-shaped frames.
If you're oval, you really can go for the oversized look and make a real statement!
Finally, seeing as we’re talking about sunglasses affecting your look and your personality, I’d always recommend consulting a good optician. They will give you an honest assessment of what works for you and I’m guessing that’s really important to you seeing as you’ve spent so much effort getting the rest of your appearance sorted…from the feet up, of course, just like they do back in the home of style.
