OLIVER PEOPLES and NEW SEASON NEUTRALS: eyewear, style and accessories to put brights in the shade

This year, Oliver Peoples celebrates 35 years since its launch in 1987 – in a decade famous for over-the-top glamour, here was a label which set itself apart. While it has a whole lot of style history, its designs are never too pinned in the past. Since its launch Oliver Peoples eyewear has become the eyewear of choice for anyone who is in-the-chic-know.

For this new season, the talented design team behind Oliver Peoples have created their own Love Story campaign, starring musician Lucky Blue, his wife Nara Aziza Pellman, and their beautiful daughter Rumble Honey. Set against the backdrop of the iconic Joshua Tree, and photographed by Matthew Brookes, the family perfectly show off the brand’s beauty colour palette of designs. Grounded and multi-talented, they are also a band in their own right, and a future picture of refined family style.

Oliver Peoples has a modern-meets-vintage aesthetic and for this season, tortoiseshell frames play a huge part in their current collection. Handcrafted by highly trained artisans, tortoiseshell is a cornerstone colour for the OP brand, and is super-flattering to any skin tone.

The O’Malley 5183 is a superstar of the range – lightweight and luxurious, it has a pretty preppy feel – perfect for back-to-a-new-semester style.

And to go with your whole new tortoiseshell-shaded frames? Well, you can match your investment eyewear with forever pieces and high street looks, too. If you go classic, then you can add to your wardrobe mindfully, coordinating as you go along so that you are always in the style loop.

If you are thinking full-on luxury, as Fendi have just celebrated 25 years of the Fendi Baguette as New York Fashion Week, there has never been a better time to invest in a 2022 updated version, or go for the latest Fendigraphy houndstooth hobo bag, to pair with your OP frames and new neutral wardrobe.

As we pack away summer T’s and think about new sweaters, while you can change your outfit every day, your eyewear is something you wear most of all. So if you are definitely into understated style, it’s time to start this new term a la Jennifer Aniston. Our favourite queen of under-the-radar chic is currently filming the next season of The Morning Show. Until it arrives on screen, we will definitely be working Alex Levy’s back-to-work look.

Oh, and guys, if you are all about the classic then our Mr. B, Mark, is on board in his Oliver Peoples Cary Grant frames, available as optical frames or glorious sunglasses: innate elegance via Old Hollywood style with a modern twist.

Oh, and Cary Grant looks pretty good in them, too!

Proof that classic neutrals put brights-of-the-moment very much in the shade.
