22nd June 2022
We finally feel back in the social swing of things, and the real start to our summer calendar here at Team Blankstone is The Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, which leads us all into the biggest and best Grand Slam event on the planet. But before SW19, we love spending three days at the prestigious Liverpool Cricket Club, at the largest exhibition tennis tournament in Europe. As it celebrates its 20th Birthday, we were on hand to provide style and eyewear back-up to the region’s most chic guests.
This time around we got a whole load of sunshine, which is the icing on the cake, and guests got the chance to enjoy the tournament’s legendary hospitality, as well as take in matches featuring some of the sport’s most talented up-and-coming players. Put it this way, when previous winners include Grand Slam champions like Marat Safin and Martina Hingis, guests always know they are there for more than just a great day out.
For us, we get the chance to talk to friends, existing clients, and meet new faces. Of course, we love chatting eyewear, but we also love drinking in the laid-back and welcoming atmosphere of a tournament that is seamlessly organised by the legendary Anders Borg.

We also had a chat with our fabulous friend, Rebecca Beglin, who is based just around the corner from our home in Derby Square, at Neighbourhood Liverpool, located in Castle Street. As Business Development Manager, Rebecca was enjoying a rare few hours off to soak up the sun, enjoy the tennis and, of course, making sure she was looking her very best. But Rebecca’s role in life is never far from her mind as it is her job to represent the brand throughout the city, forging new connections and broadening our opportunities and clientele.
Rebecca, what did you most enjoy about Liverpool Tennis?
Liverpool Tennis was actually the first event I attended as BDM of Neighbourhood in 2021, so it was great to be back again this year and support once more. I love tennis and networking so this was the perfect social occasion to incorporate business and pleasure.
Please can you give us your expert advice on looking good at an all-day event?
In terms of staying stylish at events, I personally always carry a bag big enough to hold necessary toiletries and make up to reapply throughout long days. I opt for block heels/wedges or sometimes espadrilles to maximise comfort and always wear dresses a little too big to account for a few Proseccos and Canapes! And, of course, I do love a gorgeous hat and some beautiful sunglasses.
What is your favourite eyewear brand right now?
My favourite sunglasses at the moment are Gucci – hands down! I like to channel an Audrey Hepburn look. Oversized glasses create a classy statement and complete any outfit, don’t they? And the design team at Gucci have really outdone themselves this season – they are so luxurious and glamorous.
It was lovely catching up with Rebecca and seeing so many tennis fans back where we all belong. We are already looking forward to next year’s tournament, and seeing our city, in all of its shining glory, providing a gorgeous green sanctuary where we can watch quality tennis, and get dressed to the nines.
To all of our fabulous clients who treated themselves to new shades, thank you.
See you in Summer 2023.
*A certain member of the team who is an absolute Pat Cash devotee still hasn’t quite forgiven our Mr. B. for meeting her hero. The rest are probably glad that she wasn’t on duty that day. Need we say more?!
